Unidirectional guided resonances in anisotropic waveguides

چکیده
We show that anisotropic planar anti-guiding waveguide structures with two radiation channels toward the surrounding cladding materials can support unidirectional guided resonances (UGRs), where is canceled in one of and redirected into other. Their formation subtle as it requires breaking so-called polar anisotropy-symmetry structures. Then, UGRs appear at specific wavelengths light propagation directions, are robust, characterized by phase singularities channel which canceled. The mechanism we describe allows for ready selection direction, well tuning wavelength angle occur.

Guided plasmonic modes of anisotropic slot waveguides.
We study guided optical modes of a planar plasmonic waveguide filled with a generic anisotropic medium. In particular, we show that both surface and oscillatory modes exist for such waveguides and find their numbers for two specific forms of the anisotropy tensor. We also show that lossless waveguides, characterized by a diagonal permittivity tensor, support simultaneously both the forward and ...
متن کاملComplex Resonances in Acoustic Waveguides
We consider a two-dimensional innnitely long acoustic waveguide formed by two parallel lines containing an arbitrarily shaped obstacle. The existence of trapped modes that are the eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator in the corresponding domain subject to Neumann boundary conditions was proved by Evans, Levitin & Vassiliev (1994) for obstacles symmetric about the centreline of the waveguide. ...
متن کاملResonances in Twisted Quantum Waveguides
In this paper we consider embedded eigenvalues of a Schrödinger Hamiltonian in a waveguide induced by a symmetric perturbation. It is shown that these eigenvalues become unstable and turn into resonances after twisting of the waveguide. The perturbative expansion of the resonance width is calculated for weakly twisted waveguides and the influence of the twist on resonances in a concrete model i...
متن کاملResonances in microstructured optical waveguides.
We propose a simple physical model that predicts the optical properties of a class of microstructured waveguides consisting of high-index inclusions that surround a low-index core. On the basis of this model, it is found that a large regime exists where transmission minima are determined by the geometry of the individual high-index inclusions. The locations of these minima are found to be large...
متن کاملRotational acoustic resonances in cylindrical waveguides
An investigation is made into the existence of rotational acoustic resonances in a circular cylindrical waveguide, and their frequencies of oscillation are calculated numerically. The guide is assumed to contain a number of radial fins which have finite extent, and which are distributed at equal azimuthal angles around the guide. A variational principle is used to prove the existence of differe...
